The look of vinyl fencing and wood fencing are very different, but they also have many things in common.  Fencing is used to keep livestock in, mark off property lines or to keep children or contained to a specific area in a yard.  Fences are also a great focal point in many types of landscaping designs.  Many homeowners are not sure if vinyl fencing or wood fencing would be a better fit for their individuals needs.  This comes down to wood fencing verses vinyl fencing.

Installing a fence is not always an easy process no matter what type of material the fence is made out of, but there are advantages to installing a vinyl fence when compared to wooden fencing.  Vinyl fencing can be preordered with the posts already assembled unlike their wooden counterparts.  This makes the installation process quicker for those that do not want to spend a lot of time with assembling a fence.  Those that like to do home improvement projects themselves, like the fact that vinyl fencing is easier to assemble then wood.

Insects can be annoying when trying to enjoy outside spaces during the summer months.  Those of us that have had wooden fencing in the past know that insects are drawn to wooden structures.  After all many insects see wood as a food source.  Since vinyl fencing does not attract bugs, one does not have to worry about insects such as termites or wood bees destroying a fence.

If one is looking for a fence that is low maintenance, vinyl fencing is the answer.  Vinyl fencing can be ordered in just about any color or style right from the factory.  Many like the idea of having a fence that matches their outdoor space and or home.  Wood needs to be treated with various varnishes, sealants and paint to keep it looking good and to protect it from moisture.  When this is not done to wooden fencing the result is rotting wood.  Vinyl fencing is very low maintenance.  All this type of fencing needs to keep it looking good is to be sprayed off with a garden hose.

When looking for fencing that has a high tensile strength, vinyl is superior to wood.  For those that want to keep large animals such as horses, cows, llamas or alpacas contained to one area, the strength of the fence is very important.  When wood fencing becomes older, the tinsel strength of the wood is compromised from being exposed to the elements.

Many think that they can save money by installing a wooden fence, but when compared to vinyl fencing they clear winner for more bang for your buck is clearly vinyl fencing.
